Hi ladies, I got a new job that’s Minimum wage but what’s annoying me is the depth of their background check. Technically I’ve actually been out of work on and off for years, and since their system wouldn’t allow me to have a gap of longer than 90 days, I put self-employed. Now they want proof.
it’s asking for payslips etc
What am I meant to do? How’s a disabled woman to be independent in a culture like this?
I'm going through a very similar one right now. It's very common for it to take a few months to find a next job at my level, and it's not a red flag at all to have that gap. I just put unemployed and the background check cleared.
Ask if you can go back and correct it. It doesn't pay to put false information because they have access to check everything.
Use someone you know and their phone number. Also if you say something like Doordash or you can say you volunteered somewhere.
Get some tech certs (study nonstop for a couple months) and apply for all the jobs. Market's hot. I work in tech. Believe in yourself. You just need one person to say yes, then you're in. And the money will flow.
Do you have a friend that can be of reference or owns a company you can say you helped them with consulting or so? Use your friends or family .. it’s ok :)
What if you put caring responsibilities? Most companies accept this without questions (esp during the pandemic) without proof .. if not well is this really a company you want to work for if they’re asking for this much?
What the hell. Minimum wage job, but acting like they're hot shit? Red flag.
