This is a short story time because I am amused.
So, I'm still on Reddit, mostly for the funny animals and few select subreddits. And I do enjoy limited doses of AITA in much the same way as I enjoy looking on with horrified fascination when a nurse pulls bloods. There was a post about a father who fired the housekeeper for slut shaming his daughter.
My reply to the post can be summarised as follows: the main issue is that a 14yr old girl feels the need to wear fewer clothes in order to be liked. Never mind the housekeeper: make sure your daughter has self-esteem.
Guess who got downvoted? Can confirm: reddit is a cesspool.
PS, I checked through this post because my beautiful troublemaker has been helpfully lying on the keyboard. She would apologise for any mistakes and accidental deletions, but she's a cat and doesn't want or need your understanding. She simply be.
I had a similar experience on AITA recently too. There was a post made by a woman under a lot of stress who had just had a mental health diagnosis. She wanted her husband to do more childcare so that she could have some extra me-time. Obviously I posted that she wasn't TA for asking this of him. Got downvoted to hell lol. All the scrotes kept whining, 'what about him though?? What if he needs me-time?? He should be able to go out with his friends and relax too!' It's insane how they completely miss the whole point every time and keep jumping on the MRA bandwagon at every opportunity.
Urgggh Reddit is complete a mindfuck. It is hard to believe that people can be that oblivious. I like to imagine that those people aren't real or reside only in US (sorry haha since Reddit is very US centered) but no, they are just bold enough to express their views online.
Did it even say in the post the daughter was wearing less clothes to be liked? Read the post and didn't see that.
