If yes, I'd love to hear thoughts. If not; I would strongly recommend!
Allan Johnson was an American sociology and gender studies college teacher, who wrote this book in 1997. It's an eye-opening book which explains how patriarchy reinforces itself, how it affects men and women, and really how the puzzle pieces fit together. If you have been wondering how patriarchy really works and you want an in-depth and analytical description, then this is an excellent book to read.
Edit: BTW, you can find the PDF of this free to download very easily.
I took your recommendation last night and read it all in one sitting ( 4am I finished!) I see know how phony men are. Can’t even allow themselves to be authentic for fear of other mens’ opinions of them. And the competition to be good at something, ANYTHING!, like frisbee tossing in order to feel validated. Good grief, what a colossal waste of a life trying to prove you’re a man cuz a puny Y chromosome is not enough.
Women have no such need to prove they are woman enough. After reading this book I feel so powerful now, knowing that men are frightened of us finding out the truth behind misogyny.
Most men are deeply insecure and fearful of other men. They suffer from misogyny in a cruel way, too, because of the ridiculous male standards that leave them feeling inferior and undervalued.
I especially loved, " If Feminism were ridiculous it would be ignored, but, notice the viscous backlash it receives"!
I saw this post earlier today, while at the airport. I downloaded the ePub version to my Kindle and got about a quarter through the book while in the plane. And damn, so far it's a pretty interesting read.
I like how it supports radfem ideology by saying that the patriarchy makes concessions and accommodates women (liberal feminism cough cough) so it could remain in place, but the whole patriarchal system needs to be dismantled for real change to occur.
Also, it seems to be pretty complementary to "Why Does He Do that". In the latter, the author explains that men abuse because it benefits them and well, because they can. "The Gender Knot" delves further into the social/psychological process, and tries to explain the root cause of why they're so drawn to power in the first place.
Might report back once I finish the book !
That part of the book that explains how men fear other men so they end up oppressing women.... This explains why scrotes in third world countries rage at their own sisters/daughters and women of their family when they exercise their bodily autonomy or have sex outside of marriage or when these women/girls get assaulted by some scrote...instead of raging at the scrote, these filthy degenerates choose to punish the woman to the point of killing in the name of "honor" cause they fear what other men would say... It's like a silent war going on among men, and women are the ones that end up paying the price for it as fucking usual.. Also there's a term in Arabic that translates to "cuck" in english, it's used by scrotes and especially religious scrotes to shame and pressure men into treating women like shit...and men in third world countries fear getting called a "cuck" because they tie being an alpha masculine man by how much they hold control over their women's agency...if they don't control or interfere with a woman's choice of dressing they are called cucks...if they let their daughters, sisters & wives exercise their bodily autonomy freely they are called cucks...and the little bitch coward scrotes are terrified of those labels, so they choose to oppress their women to the point of killing them instead of facing and confronting other men...That's how fucked up and deficient the Xy chromosome is.
Nope, but now I am going to
