I'm interested in leveling up my on-the-run/errands wardrobe; what are your favorite effortless yet attractive on-the-go looks? Do you have a strategy for how you put them together/a simplified make-up routine? I've decided I want to look *amazing* every time I leave home, even if I'm just going to get my car detailed, rushing to pick something up from a shop, or stopping at the post office. I've set this goal partly because I want to look good at all times, and I deserve it, but also because I want to attract more high-value people and relationships, and I think presentation is critical to reaching that goal. Do you have a style uniform? Are there specific stylists/influencers or retailers you recommend for effortless yet beautiful outfit ideas?
Update: Thanks for all the awesome replies that answered my question about style and fashion directly. I am already well dressed, but as I said I'd like to "level-up" my style while on-the-run specifically. Easy, polished outfits that don't require my usual 2 hour routine.
Finally something I would love to answer and it will be LONG! Apply the number rule to look totally put together. So, the way this rule works is that each item you’re wearing is given a point; either a 1 or 2.
1 point is for simple items; a black blouse, white Tee, a pair of blue jeans, simple heels or sneakers. 2 is for those EYE-CATCHING items; a necklace that POPS, a patterned skirt, glittery shoes. (I can elaborate if this doesn’t make sense in the comments, feel free to ask!).
Now, your outfit goal is 6-7 points. I suggest limiting your outfit to one or two 2-pointers. So, a black blouse, checkered skirt, black wedges and a ruby necklace would be 6 points. Add on a pair of giant hoop earrings, no matter how simple; will bring your outfit up to an 8 because they’re eye catching. This brings your outfit average too high and will look WAY too overdone.
Also, simplicity is key. Find out your body type (Justine Leconte has great YouTube series about body types and colora) and choose clothes that sits nicely on your body type. For example, if you’re short you want to accentuate your verticals lines. If your body shape is an apple, you’ll want to avoid horizontal lines.
Next tip: stay timeless. Sometimes little is more. Simple classics are always stylish. Getting inspiration from older actresses can give you timeless look. Model off duty look is super basic too and one doesn't have to have model sizes to dress up that way.
LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANT - POSTURE. Bad posture breaks even the most perfect outfit but adds up for any simple outfit.
For a make up - depends on what is your base. If you have skin issues - work on them. SPF is must (My friend uses tinted SPF which works for her greatly). For everyday I don't use any foundation or BB, CC cream. But I use concealer on problematic areas.
I never leave my apartment without simple lipstick - right now my absolute favourite is Yves Saint Laurent rouge volupté shine. In general highly recommend just Sephora rouge since it is versatile and not expensive. You can apply the last one on your cheeks too.
Clean hair is must and I usually have haircuts once in 4 months. I personally air-dry my hair and seen a lot of improvement. Not sure if I can add anything to hair conversation since I just use shampoo, conditioning and heat protection if I do anything with it.
Accessories give an impression that your outfits are always thought in detail.
Simple earrings like studs/watches/rings/sunglasses/leather gloves add A LOT for leaving an impression of a person who is always put together. Also these type of basic accessories are super versatile and you wan throw it to any outfit from your wardrobe.
I’m going to be brutally honest and say that there is nothing more effortlessly attractive than a fit, healthy, toned body. Everyone, male or female, looks fantastic when they exercise and stay in shape.
Doesn’t matter how big or small you are, but when you exercise you’ve got that endorphin glow, and typically your confidence and mood is boosted. To me, that's just so attractive in a person.
Couple that with a balanced diet and solid skincare routine, and girl, you will be lethal!
I say all this because I feel like an exercise regimen says a lot about a person. It can attract high value friends and suitors. People who exercise demonstrate some great qualities in that they are consistent, disciplined, and typically have a positive and supportive attitude. I'm obviously not referring to douchey gym guys or pick me gym girls, but the well-rounded people you see regularly either at the sport you play, class or gym you attend, or any other activity that you enjoy. These qualities are important to me as they align with my personal values.
Also, I feel you on dressing for the people/lifestyle you wanna attract. Most of us have heard "dress for the job you want," and it's no less legitimate for a mantra for my social life than it is for work.
I agree above a good pair of jeans is so important for on the go lol. I’d also add a black or white tshirt or long shirt and nice gold jewelry (rings, bracelet and earrings) and my favorite perfume. Fall season is coming up so def different color turtle necks and statement coat. I get my inspiration from Pinterest and find great pins for “chic/classy and minimalist fashion”, “off duty looks” and “clean girl look”. On a side note, I love wearing everyday makeup when I’m out and about as it helps me feel put together. My routine is skin tint, highlighter, concealer, brow, blush and mascara. Glossier is my go to brand for everyday makeup look.
If you like dresses, I find dresses to be the easiest way to pull a nice look together. You can just throw on a dress without having to think about stuff like "does the bottom match the top? Is my underwear peeking out of my waistband?"
My go-to is a shirtdress. It's a casual dress that's pretty much effortless for me to put on.
Yet dresses are perceived to be fancier than other clothes. 😆
I wear a uniform that includes only 4 colours. Very simple, minimal clothing, plus I've got full makeup and my hair is done, too. I go with simple, timeless pieces in my colour range. That means I've got the same pair of skinny jeans in 4 colours, the same shirt in 2 colours etc etc. It makes life sooo easy and I'm ageless. I save a ton of money because I don't buy trends and I look expensive. It's all about how clothing hangs
I just discovered the magic that is straight leg jeans. They balance my hips/bum better than skinny jeans (and are comfier) but don't look dated like boot cut or flares. I like the high rise dark denim straights from Gap. They look good with a pullover sweater and worn with flats, leather sandals, or ankle boots.
Embracing your femininity is great especially since when you look good, you feel good
sweats and pajamas obv a no. I refuse to wear jeans. blazers, blouses with a pencil skirt is versatile and dresses as well! you can also have a capsule wardrobe to make your life and finances much easier.
i always wear at least light makeup: eyeliner, mascara and lipstick when i’m out.
also always have your nails done! People pay attention to them. If getting them done in a salon is too much, i recommend getting Madam Glam’s gel polishes with an LED lamp. Theyre free of a lot of harmful chemicals and gel nails last soo long!
good luck
Nice large sunglasses.
But honestly style is so personal. An FDS woman can wear a burlap sack or an evening gown. Attracting High Value people has more to do with how you think, than what you wear. (Vet, vet, vet).
I no longer wear jeans if I can help it. I wear my horse riding clothes casually, like jodhpurs with a jacket, or a dress. I refuse to go anywhere in sweats.
The best tip I can give is take care of your skin by washing your face twice a day and using good skincare products. And also keeping your teeth whiter. Good hygiene goes a long way, your skin will be glowing without the need to apply any make up if you take care of it.
Overnight curlers, or I personally curl then dry shampoo my 2nd day then wash my hair every other day (on cardio days). My hair is above the shoulders and super fast to curl, and I can make it look more dressed up with just bobby pins.
Quick makeup, just some cover up and mascara. Like if eyeliner is your thing just put that on quick. You're going out for errands you don't need a full face just a little badabing that suits you
Spend some time finding comfy quick to put together clothes that work for you. Go shopping with an honest friend. Get things you really like tailored so they fit even better. Look up style influencers with similar body types to yours and see what haircuts and clothing looks good on their bodies. Copy it!
Basics in natural fabrics and neutral colors. I also adore wearing dresses most of the time since it's so comfortable and always looks nice! I like thrifting online, it's easy once you figure out your measurements. Flat measurements x 2 will let you know if it fits or not. I agree with the comments on having a healthy diet, lots of water and excercise. AND sunscreen!! It's the long con.
For clothes, I keep a lot of neutral colours (black, grey, beige, white) which I then pair with one item of clothing in a colour that compliments my skin tone. Khaki really suits me, so I might wear a black skirt or trousers with a khaki blouse or something. This avoids clashing colours and helps me look more put together. Having nice statement coats that can go with multiple outfits is really helpful if you live in a colder country. Keeping a good skincare regimen is also something I spend time on. A good face cream, face wash and regular face masks go a long way. I don't wear makeup much, only really if I have an event or I'm trying to cover a blemish. I didn't wear it at all until I was 18 and my skin was amazing. Then I started wearing it all the time and it got progressively worse until I literally couldn't leave the house without it or I looked like some sort of drug addict. Over lockdown I stopped completely and started investing more in skincare and I'm so proud that my skin is back to being healthy enough to wear outside without makeup.
I'm currently working on my hair too. It's really long and can't decide whether it wants to be curly or wavy. I don't like straightening it so I've been experimenting with different updos for days when I think it might frizz. Cowashing has helped a lot with damage/breakage so far!
i used to follow stylists/influencers but eventually realized that they work with a higher budget wardrobe compared to me. accessories are much easier to keep up with because lookalikes are easy to find.
what i've realized is to slowly build from the colors that you like or will suit you. do a simple color theory quiz and find your palette then build from there. when i'm at a clothing store i look at the clothes on the mannequins to figure out the style they have. my go-to outfit is my knee-distressed jeans and a T-shirt. for makeup, i keep it simple like i do for work. no foundation; just concealer, mascara/eyeliner, brows, blush, bronzer, lipstick.
Have a cute pair of sunglasses. And coordinating your wardrobe so you have styled shirts instead of plain t shirts makes a huge difference. Same with shoes, running shoes are for the gym, get some cool sneakers for errands and you'll look way more styled than in running shoes
Beautiful eyebrows 😍
Personally, I get electrolysis but I'm very conservative, keeping the brows full but neat.
Denim button down, khaki yoga pants from Amazon that look like work pants, and ballet flats
