"“Break the Man” is the fourth track of TFF’s high-anticipated seventh album The Tipping Point.
The song mainly deals with sexism and inequalities between men and women in modern societies, and describes in an illustrated way a woman ready to act on compensating these inequalities."
As recounted in a Rolling Stone article, Curt Smith explained the meaning of the song as follows:
“Break the Man” is about a strong woman, and breaking the patriarchy. I feel that a lot of the problems we’ve been having as a country and even worldwide to a certain degree has come from male dominance. It’s a song about a woman who is strong enough to break the man. For me, that would be an answer to a lot of the problems in the world — a better male-female balance.
I love Tears for Fears and I just got done listening to their newest album. I was delighted when I came across this track! It's so nice to hear this message coming from men. It gives me a small glimpse of hope lol. I wish music like this was more mainstream.
