I have blessedly navigated Covid without anyone in my family becoming sick. We have many underlying health problems (blood disorder, heart disease, etc.) and are vigilant to ensure everyone keeps each other safe. My friends are also aware and either understand and are pretty honest if they have possibly been exposed and stay away until a later time.
Enter male friend. He volunteers to take a Covid test before seeing me. He sends the test the day of our meeting. He discovers he has Covid a few days later. I immediately test myself and I am negative - after I screamed and freaked out for 5 minutes wondering if I infected my family and praying to God. I then investigate the test he sent. He only submitted 1 test but was supposed to take 2 tests! The instructions clearly stated to take the first and then the second in a specific amount of time. Otherwise the results are invalid. This also helped me realize that some people may take a picture of a negative test(s) and keep it as their go to image to deceptively gain access.
The other thing was that he didn't ask if I was o.k. until well over 2 days later. The selfishness never seems to disappoint. Why volunteer to take a test when you know you are going to be deceptive about it but it could affect LIVES and/or HEALTH forever. I gave him a piece of my mind and blocked and deleted.
Please be safe.
I’m sorry you had to deal with this. One of my (male, obvs) coworkers took a covid test, then came into the office for two days while waiting for the results (even though we’re allowed to work from home). Turns out he tested positive, and now we all have to get tested.
Honestly, any time a man volunteers to do the right thing without being prompted, alarm bells immediately go off in my head. Sad but true..
This is so hard to navigate (on top of everything else!).
