My aunt got one against her husband, and we completely support it. The cops found her unconscious with their year old daughter crying in her crib. It was the neighbours that called. They arrested him. She got a restraining order, but caved since he warmed his way back to her. CPS took her daughter away and that was her wake up call. She eventually went back to school to become a nurse, got her daughter back, and is married to another man. A few years ago, she had a boy with her new husband.
Her ex on the other hand, went on to abusing women, and garnering restraining orders (no existing kids, thank God). He went to jail for a little bit. He sought help and got into therapy, and even doctors couldn’t help him, so they threw him in a ward. Last I heard, he works on an oil rig now, or at least for some mining oil company that’s devoid of human contact lol

I had a restraining order on someone once. I later overheard from men who knew the guy that they thought I was uncool because of it, and that they wouldn't date me because they worried I would just "cry rape". I'm glad those men didn't approach me! They were clearly misogynistic and stupid. So I'm glad the trash took itself out. :P
I am working on an order for protection right now against my abuser (I still feel weird calling him that) but I am worried they won't grant it. Reading all the paperwork I had to fill out is chilling though. Like... he did a lot. If one of my friends went through the things I went through I would have been so pissed.
My best friend had to get one.
Whatever you do, don't let his family talk you out of it. She did, and then everyone said she was lying the whole time.
