This article was published 11 hours ago. It says " marriage rates are up and divorce rates are down." Is this fake news? propaganda? Or is this real?

i think that might be true because housing is way too pricey for people to divorce and part ways. people are staying together for financial reasons.

we need to be careful with the bubble we live in. my youtube feed has losts of videos of women talking about reinforcing their boundries and raising their standards. that gives me the impression that women all around the world are finally opening their eyes. but then i look around and in real life the women around me are still pick mes who prioritize men, even the ones who call themselves radical feminists. there is no algorithm to curate the content of real life.
You're right. All my friends are dating and getting engaged with men who display huge red flags, but then look happy so sigh. I'm definitely living in my internet bubble
A lot of women are indeed opening their eyes. Women from our generation are putting up with less and less. So I think the real explanation is along the lines of what Saturn told you, divorce is lower because gen z women aren't rushing to tie the knot and look for genuine compatibility instead. As for why marriage rates have increased in 2022, the article explains it best :
Growth in marriage rates may be due to more than just rescheduling, said Marissa Nelson, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Washington, DC.
Being in lockdown together gave many couples a unique hurdle to overcome, one that made them get intentional about how they approached important things like finances, compromise and autonomy. Many people walked out of that experience with a better sense of what they need in a life partner, Nelson said.
By extension the same can be said for divorce rates as well.
I wonder if gay marriage is influencing the statistic here. Many couples who couldn't legally get married in past generations can now, so I wouldn't be surprised if that accounted for at least part of the higher marriage rates. There are simply more people who can get married.
I'll put another spin on this that there are less people getting married due to people staying in situationships for 5+ years and cohabitating. Those decisions bring with it tons of issues, but on the brighter side, women are finally invested in themselves, knowing their worth, not having another man determine that.
It’s real. The divorce rate has been dropping for decades as people stop marrying for the wrong reasons and start marrying people they actually love at an age when their brains are fully developed. I’m 24 and most of my friends around my age are married. Out of all my similar aged cousins I’m the only one left unmarried.
The high divorce rates were because of older generations, not from younger ones. As gen z gets older we look for real compatibility and companionship now. It makes sense. Especially since the men I date are marriage and family minded, it’s not exactly a dying institution. Plenty of people are wanting and happy to get married.
True. I think marriage is good protection for women who's in a relationship with a HVM. What I'm worried about is women settling due to inflation/the economy, which pushes the marriage rate up.

As inflation increases, those LVM are gonna look more and more like HVM, and women will be stuck with males with an inflated worth.
That's another reason they want us out of the workforce.
Yep! Since women are earning more college degrees than men, and a single income is not enough to afford rent or basic needs, women are forced to settle for men who are less educated or earn less than them.
Thus, we have the tradwife/controlling men on one side, and women who earn more and do 50/50 on the other side. Women are losing on both sides.

It might be real, honestly.
People are pushing for marriage and "traditional" stuff now.
Marriage isn't necessarily traditional, btw. We've been doing single mom shit since WAY earlier than marriage was invented.
