It just so happens that this week's lesson was about feminism and I went to grad school for gender studies. We got into this class conversation and he thought the movie Barbie was not feminine enough haha. My male partner tries to quell the fire and ease the tension, but I'm like fuck this bullshit, I'm down to verbally throw hands.
I literally point each and every scene/detail, and went over America Ferrara's speech. I talked to him about the tippy toes they were on, and the clothes they wore. He still denied it was feminine, the issues in the movie wasn't real, the move was boring.
Another female colleague was like bruh, do we have to be naked to get your attention, and for to see that it's very feminine? Lol also highlight of my night. She and I are friends 🤣
The guy is literally afraid to look at me now, and ignores me. He chooses to criticize and comment on other women's work. I've been noticing that he never really comments on the male colleagues stuff, and when he does make comments it would be directed towards women in the form of criticism. The girls in the course are younger and they're very shy, and they jus take the criticism. Then there's me, who is super vicious when you mess with me, or try to give me unprecedented criticism.
He made this comment about this girls proposal and how it wouldn't be catered towards smaller populations. To premise, her clients are all urban city people and she specifically made a disclaimer about this. Her proposal was immaculate well thought out even the professor praised her work, but then he chimed in with that stupid response, and what does she do? She apologizes! If it were me, I would have been like, "oh yeah, at the beginning of the presentation I did put that disclaimer, I guess you weren't listening, or it flew over your head".
Honestly, thank you for being the woman to stand up to the men like that in those classes. The girls may be too shy to stand up for themselves right now but they’ll never forget you sticking up for them.
Yes! Thank you for speaking up! We need all the sisterhood we can get in this terrible misogynistic world. Queen. 👑
