My new standard for 2024:
From now on, I will absolutely refuse to go on a date if the man does not provide cab fare to and from the date.
If he does not offer, I will ask. I am in my late 30s and do not have time or patience to dance around this subject. If a man my age can't afford cab fare for a lady, then he can't afford to date.
His offer to pay cannot be an empty promise. Before I start preparing for a date, I will ask for a deposit of $100 to my Paypal/Cash App/Venmo account. (A cab costs $50, including tip, from my home to my city's downtown area, where the date will take place.) The money literally needs to be in my account before I start rearranging my schedule, planning my outfit, and mentally preparing for the date. I dress to the nines on every date, and this takes time, effort, and money.
I recommend other women start having the same expectation. If a man pays a "deposit" for a date he has planned, he will be less likely to cancel last minute and more likely to take the date seriously. Men who are incapable of respecting our time will be discouraged by this requirement.
All dressed up and canceled on is not a place I (or any of you) want to be.
I wrote a post a few days ago on this topic. Thanks to those who reassured me that expecting a man to cover transportation costs should not be controversial.
This would quickly eliminate many dusties lmao
Good! Sometimes I forget that my normal isn't other women's normal so some of the comments about never expecting men to cover transportation downtown really confused me. I didn't realize it'd be controversial.
Genuinely curious as to how this will go for you - look forward to an end-of-year update ❤️
Great idea! This will rule out all the redpillers PUA real fast.
I can't believe men don't do that. I even had male friends pay for the cab (we live close and we were going to the same hang out place). Like, okay, you don't have a car but you can pay for the taxi. Even when I was on high school I had friends who boyfriends would take a bus from their house to theirs so they could go together. If he wanted...
