I just finished reading the Twisted series by Ana Huang. Although the series is nice, but it’s not quite FDS aligned, so I was wondering if there was any FDS aligned books out there?
I just want to read a book with green flag guys and use that as an archetype to fawn over. With Huang’s books, there’s too much of the trope where the guy is flawed in some way and the girl (who have flaws of their own although minor) try to fix the guys.
I’ve enjoyed reading The Empyrean series (first book: Fourth Wing). If you like fantasy, dragons, and badass women who don’t take shit and beat up their harassers, its a fun read. The main female characters are strong-willed yet empathetic, and the male lead is very disciplined and always stops himself if there is even a chance that he might be pushing his lover too far in intimacy. There’s a bit of smut and the female lead is pretty much always in control of those situations (and ultimately always is, even when she doesn’t think she is). Her lover backs her up when other males try to put her down or control her, and his anger is put to good use by defending her when she needs it and stepping back to give her a chance to defend herself whenever she is able to.
The main characters are all roughly 20-25 so keep in mind that they’re definitely written as that age group, and written to be relatable to people of that age. So they’re a bit chaotic at times and sometimes let their emotions run the show. Some of the writing is a bit “young” in that sense. But as an early-30s woman I have still really enjoyed the story and the interaction between characters, and the world building is fairly deep and complex which I appreciate.
