have any of you heard of or experienced the SheCodes workshops? does it bother you that it's a dude teaching women tech? i really don't want to give a french dude $2k to learn how to break into the tech industry. am i being unreasonable? i feel like we're so close...yet still sooooo far.
otherwise i appreciate that it's real-world projects with actual guidance and deadlines. i completed the Machine Learning Course from freecodecamp.com and basically had to figure everything out using ChatGPT...because scrotes are famously horrible curriculum designers.
that is all.
I haven’t heard of it, but my instincts tell me that If it’s a man targeting women and charging 2K… it sounds scammy. Is there any particular reason he’s marketing exclusively to women?
I think that since so many people are trying to break into tech right now, there’s a lot of con artists trying to take advantage. I’m not sure whether or not that’s what’s going on here, but I’d be wary.
A few years back all the code camps were pure scams that peaked and shut down. It seems there is a new round of the money grab, but this time they are branding it and marketing toward specific groups.
We are told tech lacks women but pays well so it must be an easy ticket to middle class for desperate women! It's definitely a con. Community college courses and professional networking have way more value than any flashy online brand.
Don't use government sponsored or "for women" sites led by men. Tech is our industry as well. Ada Lovelace made the first goddamn computer. Just go where the success is.
In the immortal words of C + C Music Factory, this is definitely one of those 'Things That Make You Go Hmmm...'
