Y'all there is a new documentary series on Netflix about the Amber Heard/JD trial. Has anyone watched it? I know a lot of FDS users don't bother with Netflix because it's so problematic, but thought I'd ask anyway. So far it's hard to stomach.
The series claims to show each testimony "side by side", I suppose to make it appear fair or neutral, so the audience can make up their own opinions, but then it has clips between the trial footage that is in favour of JD.
Apologies if this case being brought back up is triggering to anyone. Are we prepared to hear about this again if it starts trending? I think I'll probably watch half an episode at a time.
The whole things needs more publicity. He violently and repeatedly beats women in his life.
I genuinely hate the 50-year-old pickmes who think he's a pirate and want to fuck the 30 year old version of him, so they'll discredit everything he's been proven guilty of. Like, not going to lie, if I were a dude looking at the situation and all I see is women defending him, I would also think women are stupid losers.
He is friends with Marilyn Manson, another abuser. ‘Nuff said
I probably won't watch it. I watched a lot of the trial footage at the time. The entire case was a public display of grand scale and proportion of how toxic our societal views still are to women, and how socially 'acceptable' this is. It was also demonstrative of how blatantly stupid people are, don't understand darvo and male abuser dynamics, despite this abuse being near constant to women every where. She basically got burned at the stake. People showed they have zero capacity for critical thinking/thinking for themselves. The whole thing was so profoundly messed up in so many ways. (I feel like I have to say this (though I shouldn't): I'm not saying she is perfect or did nothing wrong. )
It was useful at the time to obvserve him, especially, because of his tactics. When we ourselves in in abusive dynamics they can grip us mentally and it can be hard to see the trees for the forest. But when I saw him in that trial is was VERY VERY VERY CLEAR. OP, What is your reason for watching it?
The witch hunt continues. I would be surprised if this is a fair and balanced account. I'll just assume that if this is one-sided garbage, which it probably IS, Hollywood darling and poster boy for depravity Johnny Depp had an "in" with the execs at Netflix. It's just another way to continue to torture her, as far as I can see.
heard's biggest mistake was to defend herself from that monster of a man. how dare she?
at least she's still alive. so many women lose their lives for giving second chances and not actually doing something about the abuse.
she'll be crucified again and again for standing her ground. she thought she could win in patriarchy. so naive...
I haven't watched it because I'm worried it will skew towards defending "him." As a matter of fact, I just started listening to the audiobook of Why Does He Do That? per FDS recommendation. One of the lines that is permanent etched into my brain is that abusers are the ones who control the narrative about abuse in our society. And I'm worried this documentary will be just that.
Laura Richards did an excellent breakdown of the trial on Crime Analyst
