Recommendations for Feminist tv shows & movies.

I am sick and tired of watching weak female characters on screen, or movies directed by men where women are constantly sexualised or degraded, sick of seeing violence against women on screen, or movies targeted towards women that are always just romances.

Something more for women over 30, but still 'girly'. Don't want anything too depressing. Want it to focus more on female friendships, feminism etc. can have some romance in it, but not the main focus.

I really liked the show Dollface, but it got cancelled like most shows for women do :(

Marvels what if show where Peggy Carter becomes Captain America is one of the best way to display a strong female character. I don't like stoic unlikable, rude women who bully or mistreat male characters just like I don't want male character to bully or mistreat female characters.

Ooh, that reminds me, Agent Carter is also a fantastic feminist show! The story follows Peggy Carter working as a secret agent in the post WWII era. Saving the world and dealing with sexist scrotes at work. 😆

One of her lines "I know my value" should be a FDS motto.

Sadly it got cancelled after only two seasons. The main story does wrap up, but there is a plot thread set-up for season 3 that's just left hanging forever. Even with that in mind, I'm still happy I watched it.

It's from Marvel, so there is some comic book stuff in there, but even for someone like me who is not that well-versed in Marvel comics, it's enjoyable as a period drama / science-fiction blend.
