ReddXit: Why FDS is Abandoning Reddit (and You Should Too)

I am so happy FDS left reddit! I never posted there because I hated the whole platform. I was a lurker. Here I can finally join in on good discussion and feel the sisterhood ♥️

So, I finally did it. I left Reddit. I was hungry and tired, so I asked for assistance, not my proudest moment, but I was inspired by people’s kindness. Then, I trusted someone and got caught up by a scam and because of my naïveté - I was accused of being the scammer. I couldn’t take it, so I deleted my account. I can’t imagine how worst it would have gotten if I stayed.

I used to follow r/watchredditdie but after being permabanned for a dumb reason (turns out this is happening to a lot of people as per youtube videos on the matter), r*ddit is officially dead to me.

Just nasty mods over there. With an attitude like that, their own mind is hell on earth for them. We don't need to worry about them getting their comeuppance.

I'm so fascinated by the timing of this. I literally just joined reddit a number of weeks before stumbling across FDS on there. Which was just days before FDS left reddit. I'm so thankful of the timing of events b/c who knows if/how I would have found you otherwise! Where has FDS been all my life.., ya know? Ironically it was another sub subtly badmouthing FDS that led to my discovery of it. So i guess not all publicity is bad? haha But in all seriousness, Kudos for creating this space and what a godsend.

Thank you all for enduring what you did for so long. I’m more than happy to switch over to a new platform, congrats on leaving your toxic relationship with Reddit.

I'm happy without Reddit. I just listened to the podcast regarding Reddxit and while the ending was fucking hilarious, I truly get it. That site is a cesspool.

As much as I admire this move, I wish I could access the old posts on the sub.

I hang out there a lot and I miss this group so much!!! Your posts ladies are what keeps me going about improving myself and not feeling low for being single.

The only reason I was on Reddit was to read FDS. It's super boring without it so I have no problem quitting it.

I'm so glad you did it! I definetely support you leaving reddit for the exact same reasons for you listed. Reddit doesn't care about women. Their only "cis-women only" subs are for porn. They don't let females to have a safe space and they enable pervert males and let them have a platform for sharing DEGRADING porn. Whole platform should be burned to the ground

Early Reddit used to have a well-deserved reputation among normal people for being a weird cesspit full of MRAs, incels, and racist libertarians. Once tr*ns politics began to dominate the site the user base shifted somewhat to the left and it gained some credibility by censoring a few (but not nearly enough) of the most egregious hate subs. Unfortunately, a lot of tr*nswomen on Reddit were hatched out of that same crop of awful sexist men who used to run the show so nothing fundamentally changed–just their misogyny is "woke" now. It's always been a hostile place for women who don't kowtow to shitty men, even with the lip service given to progressive values in recent years. Their universally histrionic reaction to places like GenderCritical or FDS only proves that scrotes on Reddit are mostly a bunch of woman-hating loser manchildren and always have been, regardless of politics or pronouns. Lately a lot of the old school MRA mindset has been revived in defense of that bloated old hasbeen Johnny Depp's latest attempt to publicly destroy the woman he abused. I can't even avoid it in completely unrelated, non-political subs. I truly loathe Reddit and the worthless men who use it, quite frankly. (Sorry for the odd censoring, my comment was getting flagged as spam for some reason and I was curious if it was due to certain words being filtered).

I was so bummed to see FDS gone right during the Amber heard trial. Would really like to hear that take. I joined this a long time ago, I’m not seeing any threads on that trial. Totally understand why you would leave just watching the trial even after the abuse being discussed and never denied only rebutted the support is by and large for Depp, including from women and even battered women. It’s sickening

Been on Reddit for a REALLLY long time. Gosh. Probably 12 years or so. I had gotten down to just FDS and occasionally curly hair or skincare addiction but without FDS I think it's probably time to finally cut the chord. It's a terrible place. Hope to see this space build out!

Please just lock all threads on r/femaledatingstrategy, so that there are no new comments, and no need for moderation, but all that content is still available.

I can understand the decision to move from Reddit to here. However, I miss the content we had in FLUS and FDS. Is there anyway we can migrate the important posts from Reddit to here? Maybe some people can get access to subReddit and copy the posts here in a separate migrates posts group if we don’t have other solution….. PS. I had saved some posts from FLUS and I think it’s a shame to lose the really good content regarding setting goals, and working towards fulfilling them.

It's been a while since I've noticed that all dating subs are flooded with absolute incels, any advice sites are circle jerks that blame women for literally anything. Like, they WANT to have sex with women but they HATE women and blame women for not wanting to be abused by shitty men? So they make up fantasies about women being complicated creatures that only look for 5% of ultrarich men just so they don't have to accept the reality! Make it make sense!

I felt so bad for many, many poor PicMe's posting on dating subs just to be insulted or harassed in comments.

Engaging with them led to them either refusing to listen or threats in my inbox. It's the threats that were ignored by Reddit that made me realize that Reddit is not safe. Not only my reports were ignored, but my comments calling these men out were removed for spam reasons. I left right before FDS left.

I was a loooooong time lurker of the Reddit. So sad you ladies left, but I’m happy you all packed your ish and left!

As someone who never used Reddit, and only found FDS a couple weeks ago, it sounds like a truly vile crazy-making place.

I haven't been paying any attention to Reddit or any social media for a few weeks and wondered why I was getting so many notifications emails from this site all of the sudden. Oh, now I know! The incels of Reddit penetrate every sub, it's disgustingly toxic. There have been many, many posts I wanted to comment on but was afraid I may be revealing personal information for anyone to see. Looking forward to joining in on the conversations now.

Super embarrassing but I didn't notice until today even though scrolling through a few posts on reddit is a daily habit for me. What I did notice was that I could no longer find myself relating to any of the content I was seeing on there. Instead of passing the time for five minutes between meetings, I've left feeling disconnected and frustrated.

I didn't realise how much of an antidote FDS was to the rest of Reddit. I don't expect this website to hit the same kind of scale, but I hope to find some camaraderie here.

I understand that you had real grievances, grounded in fact. But unfortunately FDS has now lost the opportunity to be a voice of reason. You had tens (or was it hundreds) of thousands of members and views which were a multiple of that. This mode of reaching people is unfortunately not the best. Do we now even have a dozen unique commenters per day? I suggest fds publishes and sells the handbook as an actual book. At least spread the message.

Reddit is a cesspool of misogyny. I've taken to calling it a glorified porn site, and I'm happy to have less of a reason to go there with FDS no longer on there. I listened to the podcast and I'm so sorry to the mods that they had to endure so much abuse from the hateful scrotes on reddit. Browsing FDS on reddit was very peaceful and empowering thanks to the mods hard work and sacrifice. I understand it's hard to ask any other women to subject themselves to such abuse and so the decision to leave reddit is the best one. But I've seen people saying that reddit has changed its rules and no one can just sit on a sub-reddit anymore, even if it's private. The sub has to be used or someone else can put in a request to take the subreddit from the current moderators. Do the FDS mods know about this rule and have plans for what to do?

I use reddit only for dieting tips and calorie counting, but i loved seeing fds content mixed in between. I will follow here now

Fuck reddit. It’s user base and quality of content has been trash for years. What gets me is how all the lonely, filthy, basement-dwelling incels who claim they’re happy we left have followed us to the website to harass us there. They really can’t live without us, huh?

I actually got banned off Reddit a few weeks back for uploading a pic of a males misogynistic tinder profile on tinder Reddit. Couldn’t believe it. But reading why FDS has left makes total sense ha! I’m glad it has found a better platform 👏

So, I made a tweet about how funny it was that this whole thing showed how men and women will handle negative feelings towards each other, that men invade women's spaces as much as possible to attack and women just move on The incels of twitter loved proving me right 😂 they are FURIOUS FDS is gone.

For me dealbrakers where two things: constant bans/authobans cause i was watching diff subs and everytime i was looking for anime where a porn version of this anime tred with almost same numbers of subscribers or even more

I honestly wish subreddit with quality content created by women would make an alternative as well. I enjoy reading and contributing to witchesvspatriarchy, FFACJ (a hidden GEM of hilarity!), and muacjdiscussion. At the end of the day, there are not many women-centric spaces, and I hate being run off from them. Reddit overall is a cesspool of male fragility.

But not gonna lie, I was a little bit sad when you announced this, I liked the reddit community and it was pretty active. A lot of interesting content there. But I understand why you did it. Just two weeks ago I deleted Reddit off my phone because I felt that even with my carefully tailored subs, there were still disturbing things slipping through the cracks and the exposure was shocking and upsetting.

I was pretty much staying on reddit just for FDS and FLUS. Glad the mods’ attention has shifted to improving the website, instead of spending all their time maintaining the sub. Reddit is cancer.

It was too hard to always be worried about safety for ourselves and the mods on Reddit. FDS was the only thing besides r/aww I really looked at. Going back and seeing the posts on front page about FDS was very eye opening and made it easier for me to say I'm done there. There are positive communities for sure, but in general it's not a safe space for women.

I'm so glad FDS left that cesspool Reddit (lurker here). Reddit porn forums were one of the ways (other than Tinder) my abusive ex husband used to cheat on me. After discovering this on his phone and diving down the rabbit hole I learnt what other content was on Reddit, one of the reasons I refused to sign up! How they're allowed to operate with violent sexual material on their forums is ridiculous. Although, ASIO has recently recognised incels as a threat to national security (Australian here). Good riddance Queens, block, delete, Reddit is no value!

I found fds through Google and reddit was in the first results. FUCK reddit, glad you left, and google is the driver of the traffic not reddit. Obviously hordes of feminists are not trawling reddit given how it is. So, find a way to land high in the google ranking, no worries about stupid reddit.

honestly now thats it all done i'm glad FDS left - I curated my reddit feed to be like 90% positive and chill content, but even then dumb "victory" posts and reposts were coming up all over the place! i've been insulated from most of reddit's nonsense due to a very curated sub list (or so I thought) but being exposed to it today just affirmed that moving was the right decision. excited to see a smaller but more dedicated community through the site and help grow this movement through other mediums.

Hey all! Long-time lurker on the sub for a few years.

I agree...this was a hasty decision made with zero forewarning for members. Why not just make ONE FINAL POST directing everyone here? Turn off all comments so mods don't have to wade thru the BS, and lead everyone here? Leave it up so others can view all past entries. As it is, members can't even click a link to come here from the sub, they have to search for the website or COPY PASTE from the sad little blurp that is left on the sub. Most people sadly won't bother.

Watching the rapid rise in numbers on the FDS sub was amazing, especially in the last few months.

Unfortunately, this website is very glitchy and slow on both a computer and a cell phone. I have a copy of the handbook, but will probably seek elsewhere as I cannot handle glitchy like this and the forum is not really very active. I hope this will change in the future.

It's been a long strange trip at FDS, that's for sure! I thank everyone at FDS for the handbook and creating a space for us all to see that SCROTES are EVERYWHERE, as well as giving solid advice on how to handle their SCROTE-ness.

I worry that this will severely limit the reach FDS has. We have a wonderful community here, but I foresee this move causing the numbers to stagnate and then slowly dwindle away. Easy access to the community was foundational for me when I first discovered FDS. I know that the workload for the moderators is no small task, but I think it's work worth doing. I hate to think where I would be if I hadn't stumbled upon the subreddit. The manosphere is celebrating this move as them successfully chasing us off "their" platform. I can't help but feel like this is a great loss for struggling women who need us.

I stopped posting on the FDS subreddit after I realized that anytime I posted anything, it was extremely likely to end up screenshotted or mocked in some way by someone on that terrible website. I could comment on a recipe subreddit and someone would go "LoL FdS pOsTeR". So I just lurked for a while. I think that this is probably a good call.

I’m sad to see it go from Reddit. It was the only site liberated from pickme’s and pro male women. Even on the WGTOW sub there are pickme women and loser pro male women who got my account suspended for a month because they gang up on my comments about wanting a woman only country,

Honestly, seeing that this post has already had 24k views in the past day, I'm hopeful and optimistic that a significant chunk of FDS's Reddit userbase migrates over here.

Hello Mods, just wanted to thank you for all your thankless work on Reddit and I can only imagine how awful it must have been for you at times. I think that the move here is a great idea and should allow us all to focus on the main aim for the site which is empowering women (ladies?) to have safer, happier lives.

I think this was a good move. There is enough visibility on Reddit to the fact that FDS shut down (it wasn’t removed by Reddit it was just set to private) to bring new users here instead.

It’s such a relief that FDS finally left Reddit! For the past year or so I’ve been following the community and tried to add relevant comments of my own a few times per month, but only ~10% of the time had them approved. I understood that moderators were overwhelmed by volume, but repeatedly investing time into posts only to find out I was talking to the ether made me feel like the community had no space for me. Realistically, with an early career in medicine it would have been impossible for me to dedicate any more time to posts that might have allowed me to achieve the elusive “Newbie” moniker. I also believe that a central part of FDS’ mission is to create a welcoming space for newcomers to actively engage with content and to feel connected with established users, and I believe this will be achieved much more effectively off Reddit. I very much look forward to engaging with the community here!

This is a massive disappointment. You guys didn't even bother to give advance notice. I still am going to use reddit because there are other subs I like to interact with. You killed off a subreddit with 250k subscribers. The average post on here gets 1-2k views. Even before this the mods were making bad decisions. After the recent rule on what posts are allowed there would only be 2 or 3 posts everyday when I would check for top posts past 24 hours when before I could spend 30 minutes or more on the subreddit every day. I am not going out of my way to use this website when the subreddit vanishing is a voluntary decision by the moderators. Hopefully it was just privated and can be revived in the future. You just threw away a vast majority of the reach and audience FDS has. What a waste.

Read about FDS (left so many subs there that purported to be for women, but allowed men in), saw it had moved, now I'm here and I don't need Reddit anymore. It's sad, there are some good subs, but the redditbeards will use any opportunity to stick their knob where it's not wanted.

Since it's only private and not deleted, would it be possible to recover old posts? I made a few long posts that were pretty well received and might be of value here but now I can't even see them on my own profile to move them over.
